چکیده

Next Generation Enterprises (NGEs) rely on automation, mobility, real-time business activity monitoring, agility, and self-service over widely distributed operations to conduct business. It is important to study and analyze such enterprises because they will drive the future industry and job markets. This paper gives a quick overview of NGEs and proposes a conceptual framework for analyzing the IT infrastructure needed to support the NGEs. A systematic discussion and analysis of key building blocks, their interrelationships, and main trends is presented with an emphasis on monitoring and split-second reaction times needed across widely distributed business units of

A Hybrid Agent-Oriented Infrastructure for Modeling Manufacturing Enterprises

Manufacturing enterprises are now moving towards open architectures for integrating their activities with those of their suppliers and customers within wide supply chain networks. Traditional knowledge engineering approaches with large scale or very large scale knowledge bases are not suited for such widely distributed systems. Agent-based technology provides a natural way for resolving this pr...

Keynote: The Coming Age of Virtual Organizations: Applying Lessons from the Early History of Geographically-Dispersed Collaboration

The last decade has produced an explosion in the availability and sophistication of technology to support geographically-dispersed collaboration. Research agencies in the United States and around the world are now arguing for a new round of investment in computing and networks, termed "cyber infrastructure," to enable even more ambitious collaboration at the scale of thousands to tens of thousa...

I-37: Establishing High Resolution Genomic Profiles of Single Cells Using Microarray and Next-Generation Sequencing Technologies

The nature and pace of genome mutation is largely unknown. Standard methods to investigate DNA-mutation rely on arraying or sequencing DNA from a population of cells, hence the genetic composition of individual cells is lost and de novo mutation in cell(s) is concealed within the bulk signal. We developed methods based on (SNP-) arraying and next-generation sequencing of single-cell whole-genom...
